One city for each season of the year

Some cities or regions of the world are more particularly adapted to certain months of the year. So as not to make mistakes, here are a few seasonal examples.

One city for each season of the year

Moscow in Winter

Visiting Moscow during wintertime is like living a fairy tale. Public parks, huge squares and domes of orthodox churches are all covered with a thin white layer of snow, as the entire city sparkles like diamonds and the surface of the Moskova River is rock hard. Make sure you dress warmly or temperatures way below 0°C will spoil the fun! Down jackets and beanie hats (or a more Russian and warm ushanka), as well as fur-lined winter shoes are required! And then you're ready!

Tokyo in Spring

According to all connoisseurs, spring is the best season to visit Japan, in order to witness cherry blossom (known as sakura there). Tokyo and the whole country always celebrate with great fanfare the ephemeral efflorescence of cherry trees. In early April, inhabitants live in sync with blooming buds, as it gives an opportunity to stroll around gardens, eat, drink and feast!
It is really worthwhile. When cherry trees finally display their pink, white or lilac hues, the sight is absolutely astonishing! You'd better hurry though: cherry trees bloom and reach that visual perfection in a matter of ten days before they wither…

Lisbon in Summer

How nice it is to spend summer in Lisbon! During that season, the beauty of the city by the Tagus River is unparalleled. With its pastel houses, blue waters, trams, luxury shops, renovated docks, familial restaurants, sushi bars, old fish canning and the latest home decor shops, the visit of the Lisbon is a marvel, whether under a scorching sun or enjoying a gentle breeze after a nap…
The city of seven hills is even more beautiful at that time of year, and its personality, warmth and energy will charm you over. And wait until you discover the Lisboan night life!

Between Glasgow and Edinburgh in Autumn

Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to listen to the stag's bellows in Scotland. But it remains easier than catching the briefest glimpse of Nessie under the impervious waters of Loch Ness. If you find yourself in either Glasgow or Edinburgh between mid-September and mid-October, be sure to go see the town of Crieff in Perthshire. An hour drive from either city, you'll discover landscapes of remarkable rusticity. In the Earn River valley, surrounded by hills – some more than 990 metre high – you'll have a chance to see the famous red deer! Properly equipped with a Scottish tartan macfarlane (a cape), a deerstalker (type of cap worn by Sherlock Holmes) and a Meerschaum pipe, you'll simply have to be quiet and listen carefully… to the great Cervidae sing!
