Cowboy vibes at the Bourail Fair

The Bourail Country Fair takes place every August. It's a traditional fair which celebrates the full extent of New Caledonia's rural culture. Definitely not one to be missed!

You'll find plenty of local farmers and breeders catching up over all sorts of shows at the Bourail Fair. Its top trials include the horse-riding games, cattle competitions, animal shows, lumberjack challenges and stock car races. The three-day event is super popular with the island's “broussards” (islanders from outside Nouméa).
You can also treat yourself to local delicacies such as venison sausages, home-made jams and niaouli honey. The fair is famous for its flip-flop throwing competition, where the aim is to throw your flip flop as far as you can. The current record is 60 metres! We promise you'll be laughing your socks off! Bourail is not far from the Deva Golf Resort and La Roche Percée, a fantastic place for a wander or a swim in the lagoon's turquoise waters.
