The most beautiful Eiffel Tower replicas in the world

Since it was built in 1889 for the Paris World Fair, the Eiffel Tower has been the incarnation of a romantic and fanciful Paris. Every other city in the world is longing for one, some to the point of imitating it...

The most famous: Las Vegas

Enjoy your stay in Los Angeles and make a stop in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Eiffel Tower built along the Strip is unquestionably the most famous replica of the monument in the world. Part of the decor for the Paris Las Vegas casino, it is not a perfect copy of the French original: 165-metre high (instead of 324 metres), it is equipped with a roof covering the 1st floor gallery, and the 3rd lacks some height. The copy is surrounded with miniature replicas of the Arc de Triomphe, the Fontaine des Mers and a Mongolfier balloon. Also of note, the casino's main building is a reference to both the Opéra Garnier and the Louvre.

The oldest: Blackpool

Halfway between London and Edinburgh, the Blackpool Tower in Lancashire is 158-metre high. Open to the public in 1894, it is the Parisian Eiffel Tower oldest replica. Conceived by architects Maxwell and Tuke, it freely draws its inspiration from the original: unlike the Eiffel Tower, it is not free-standing. The horizontal crosspieces are easily identifiable but the four pillars therefore do not meet on the 2nd floor. A true tourist site for the entire county, the Blackpool Tower's base is embedded in other buildings: a circus, a ballroom, a dungeon and even a 5D cinema theatre.

The most inspired: Tokyo

Higher than its Parisian counterpart by a few metres, the Tokyo tower soars up over two floors painted in red and white. Opened in 1958 in the Minato district, this Japanese broadcast tower lightens up depending on the time of year and various events taking place in the city. Architect Tachū Naitō made it one of the highest iron structures of its era. It is lighter than the original, and the structure performs better at resisting against earthquakes. Take courage in both your feet and climb up the stairs to reach the first vantage point, 145-metre high. The second is 250 metres above the ground. When the weather is fine, you can see the Mount Fuji looking back at you.

The most similar: Shenzhen

Shenzhen is about an hour and a half from Guangzhou. This is where you'll find a perfect imitation of the Eiffel Tower, proud and tall amid a 48-hectare theme park named “Window of the World”, housing reproductions of the world's most famous monuments. Even though it doesn't reach the 324 metres of the famed model, this tower remains very impressive at a third of its height, namely 100 metres. Watching it very closely, you're not likely to find a difference visible to the naked eye – besides the height. The Chinese tower overlooks prestigious neighbours, the Egyptian pyramids, the Taj Mahal and Venice's San Marco square for instance.

The most European: Berlin

Did you know Berlin also counts an Eiffel Tower? Built according to the plans of Heinrich Straumer on the fair lot of Charlottenburg, the tower named Berliner Funkturm (Berlin's Radio Tower) was operational in 1926. 150-metre high, it was used as an antenna centre to broadcast German radio and TV waves until the 1960-70s. For the city's 750th birthday in 1987, the structure was completely restored. Enjoy the large picture windows of the 55-metre high restaurant before climbing 70 more metres up to the platform opened to the public. From up there, you'll enjoy a unique vantage point over all of Berlin.
